- Just wanted to point out that not all PhD's are in a program that pays or compensates them well (sometimes they have no funding and must work their way through or forced to drop out) and not all of them are fortunate enough to complete the degree in 5 years post undergraduate.

- I saw an interview showed on Anderson Cooper with Treyvon's parents. His tearful mom stated that the voice on the tape was her child, Treyvon. She clearly said, "That's Treyvon, that's my baby." "A mother knows her child." "That's my baby crying for help." This case is so very sad.

- Wow I didn't realize "red heads or gingers" were thought to be lowly. I personally know some absolutely brilliant and talented folks who have red hair just like the guy pictured in the article. I love the music by Simply Red. That said, this case is so very sad.

- Zimmerman's life will never be the same. He was an overzealous" Watchman" who was told that he'd done enough and to NOT follow that kid. It's on the 911 tapes. "Are you following him?" "We don't need you to do that." Treyvon was 17 years old. He died at 17. He was still a kid.

- Those who committed the crime against the white child in Kansas were ARRESTED. We should be outraged by both this crime and the crime against the child Trayvon. I heard the 911 tapes and this poor kid was killed in cold blood walking home from the store carrying skittles and a tea drink.

- As one poster noted, at age 7 and up, juveniles are able to distinguish basic right from wrong. Killing someone is plain wrong. "Kids" tend to be more exposed and precocious than even when they were growing up in the 1980's.

- Going through adversity as a juvenile does not give the person the right to kill someone. It's unfortunate that we don't all grow up like the Brady Bunch or Cosby Kids. Kids have abusive parents, or they have irresponsible parents who don't care for them, or their parents die and life is hard.

- Wow, I'll bet calling other human beings that are not white, "jiggaboos", really made you feel superior. I hope you do not suffer personal/family loss. I advocate being as safe and prepared as possible on water outings. However no matter how prepared or well trained, tragedy can happen to anyone.
